Concrete Terms:
The Flash Engineer will join a team of multi-talented and motivated software engineers to design and develop a new Curriculum Interface for a state-of-the-art Learning Management System. The Flash Developer will report to the Kaplan Tutoring Technical Projects Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop new features, code them quickly and efficiently, and shepherd them through QA and successful release
• Help to clarify and sharpen functional requirements, communicating effectively with non-technical staff
• Understand the difference between requirements, functional design, and technical design
• Diagnose bugs, design efficient coding solutions to address them, and implement them in accordance with coding standards
• Design application components to address specific business needs
• Document your work clearly and concisely
• Understand data models and distill them into reportable data
• Participate in code & peer reviews
• Estimate accurately the level of effort for programming tasks
Required Skills:
• Bachelors Degree in a Technical Field
• 2 years minimum experience in software development
• Deep Flash, Flex and ActionScript expertise
• Understanding of Service-Oriented Design Patterns
• Strong analytical skills, reducing problems to manageable parts
• Proficient in XML modeling and SQL
• Ability to work independently
Desired Experience:
• AJAX, CSS, PHP or Ruby experience
• Java 5, REST, MySQL, Linux, JBoss, Spring Framework, Hibernate experience
• Experience with Learning Management Systems
• Understanding of various software development life cycles
